How to Stay Motivated to Work Out <3
‘How are you so motivated all the time?” “How did you manage to go to the gym 5 times a week whilst working 2 jobs? Where do you get the energy?’
Well, let me tell you something. It’s all about priorities, organisation & discipline. Of course, I agree, motivation is also important, but it’s not everything. I managed to go to the gym 4-5 times a week for almost 4 years now, also during working full time and finishing my university degree. That’s why I wanted to tell you about my experiences and share 5 tips on “how to stay motivated” ♡
- Organise your day! Plan plan plan!
This is sooooooo very important if you’ve got more than 2-3 things to do in a day haha. Due to meetings and working on different projects and across all 3 of my businesses daily, i have to schedule a time in my head (or write it down, put it in your calendar on your phone if you prefer) to train or when i will work out. Then its like a meeting, booked in and theres no way i’m cancelling! If you just live for the day & do things whenever they come to your mind you will end up spending more time on the “not so nice” things and won’t even have the time to go to the gym at the end of the day. Because i like doing so many different forms of training, sometimes i’ll make a mental list in my mind on what day i want to do what form of excercise or what class. I generally stick to it! Theres nothing more satisfying than mentally checking off things and goals, with a big black tick in your mind!
- Find your motivation/inspiration
I get super motivated by others and other’s success! I look at my idol fitspo instagram pages and find my motivation in others! Whether its a post or an instagram video! It motivates me to want to be better or i go ‘ohhhh i need to try this!’ HAHA having a workout buddy (MADI I MISS YOU BY THE WAY) really helps me and motivates me! Its always better doing things in twos!
- If you’re not having fun, why are you doing it?
Ok, so i’m lucky that the training that i do (F45, BARRE CLASS AND CARDIO) is all training that i really really enjoy! Not going to lie, i’ll never like burpees and i’ll always be not that great at box jumps, but you have to take the good with the bad!
If you don’t enjoy fitness at least a liiiiittle bit there is like 0 chance for you to be successful at it and gets the results you want, not to mention just feeling amazing about yourself! I work out because I LIKE the feeling of getting stronger, fitter, seeing my body change and how it relieves me of any of the days stress. If you don’t like it simply look for another form of sport. Maybe a sporting team, yoga or hiking? It doesn’t matter as long as you love and are passionate about what you’re doing!
- Remember, food and diet is key!
So you’re having a crazy busy day and just can’t find the time to make it to the gym? Its honestly not the end of the world or an issue as long as you make sure to eat clean. You will need to eat anyways so just make the right choices haha. Cut the sugar, bad carbs and eat lean protein, fresh produce and low sodium foods. Don’t snack when you aren’t supposed to! Remember, 80% of your results its food, 20% is fitness. Make the right decisions.
- Get your priorities Straight
To come back to a question i’ve been asked in an email recently (thank you Becky). “How did you manage to go to the gym 4-5 times a week while still working full-time and studying?”. Well, I set my priorities straight. My priorities have always been achieving my goals, challenging myself in work. Work before social, always. When you love what you do this isn’t a bad thing! Im motivated as hell and I knew what I want to achieve. During this time I need working out as a balance. It feels good to burn off energy and to free your mind after sitting online or studying for hours. And a 1 hour workout plus a nice walk daily, is only 8% of your day – so there just isn’t any excuse?
