So i’m guessing if you read my blog, you are most definetely following me on instagram so you’re seeing weeks of my Maldives spam …. Hah and i appologise i am definetly not, nor am i ever trying to gloat, i just want and wanted to share with you how amazing this gorgeous world treasure really is.
I was actually only there for 6 days but i shot so much gorgeous content, i’ve just been lively vicariously through my own images wishing i was still in what was the most AMAZING place for my soul, that i have ever travelled.
So i’ll start from the beginning and explain to you HOW you actually get there! We flew Singapore Airlines from Sydney, stopping in Singapore for a lay over then a 4.5 hour flight to MALE, which is the capitol city of the Maldivian Islands.
First stop accomodation wise was Hideaway Beach – and i cannot tell you HOW EXCITED i am to go back here next year! So Hideaway Beach Island is actually on the North side of the Maldives – so basically right up the the end haha and closer to India than Male. To get there you catch an hour flight from Male airport and then a 45 min speed boat from the Domestic airport? Sounds confusing right? Well, dont stress, every hotel has there own attendants at each stop to guide you through the whole process. They check you in, check luggage, take you to the lounge and ensure you dont miss a flight or boat and are comfortable. This service was AMAZING and such a good insight to what the service would be for our actual stay.
So we arrive at 2am practically and our amazing Sales Rep – which whom we organised all of the accom stayed up to welcome us! ANDREAS if you are reading this we miss you!!!!
Waking up the next day to a water villa which what seemed like, was on the edge of the world is amazing.. We woke up at 5.30am – jet lag yes but more excitement than anything! Our water Villa was massive and quite impressively, the distance between the villas on either side of us was significantly large!
As you can see from the images are villa had a large infinity pool that looked out on the ocean with a stair case leading straight into the water. Other featres included, an AMAZING bathtub that looks over the ocean, a kind size bed with all hotel amenities. Water villas are 5 star for a reason/
On our first night in heaven we were just riding our bikes around the island, searching for the perfect sunset watching spot and saw this ….. honestly the most gorgeous sky I have ever ever seen in my life! I’ll never ever forget it! The pictures don’t do it justice!! I’ve never experienced a more intense feeling of being truely grateful than this moment, in my life! AMAZING!!
Ok so another amazing bonus when staying at Hideaway Beach is the BUFFET. Breakfast and dinner, its amazing. You know i’m all for healthy eating but guys …. when you have an opportunity at going crazy on a buffet, just do it. Eat the bread and eat the dessert. Your on holiday. I loved that this gorgeous resort provided gluten free and healthy options too! No but in all honesty, other than a little bread and some cake i kept it very healthy!
We were so impressed with the gym! Every am around 6.30 -7am we would go and train! Little circuits and tried out the tennis court at one stage – haha completely unco at this but so much fun!
Hideaway also has a basketball court, which we didn’t have time to try. But my favourite activity would of had to have been the snorkelling. I have a thing with having anything covering my mouth, so i cant scuba dive without having a panic attack ;-( So im so proud and happy that i conquered a fear and actually just did it!! We snorkelled right off the back of our villa and being so close to India the reef and fish at Hideaway are so amazing. I honestly wish i had more time at this gorgeous resort so I could have done more. Such an amazing experience!!!!!!
My favourite spot on the island was the above chair – just casually swinging from the top tip of the island. This image isn’t edited … this is it, straight off my iphone. Can you see why i fell head over heels for this amazing spot? You can literally sit there for hours and just watch the world go by. So secluded and gorgeous! Warm from the minute you wake up until you sleep. And its so odd, even though the island is most definetely large enough, you never see anyone else other than the buffet. Its so special, as if you have it to yourself?!?
The Spa at Hideaway beach is amazing. We had one of those ‘amazing, sinking into a cloud massages you only seem to get in some amazing resort on a tropical island. Let me tell you for anyone thinking of booking, 30 mins is not enough, you need an hour of this pure bliss! The staff are amazing, actually every single Maldivian i met on the trip were amazing! So polite and very very respectful!
What I LOVE about Hideaway Beach, is the fruit and veg plantations they are growing. I mean, we never stop to think of the logistics and getting fresh food to the Islands. The Islands are literally in the middle of no where! Fresh produce comes from all over but mainly Dubai. So Hideaway are one of the only resorts in the islands that are starting to grow there own produce – well the produce that can be grown in tropical hot climates and i absolutely LOVE this inititative,
Whilst on the topic of food, well its ALL amazing. Tempe and I were big FANS of the buffet! Such a treat as we never do buffet in Sydney! But the island offers another four other amazing restaurants.
Sunset Cafe – we sat here over a glass of Rose with the GM one night – LOVELY MAN BTW – and the view of the sunset is beyond. It has a 360 panorama view and the hotel describes it as: “Take in the sublime panoramas from the Sunset Pool Café Beach Club whilst sampling flavor infused dishes with Asian and European influences. Open for breakfast lunch and dinner, poolside dining can be enjoyed at anytime of day, and always with stunning views of the island.”
Look, its just AMAZNG for the soul! The ambience the view …. i loved it all! This is the entry way and view from the bar/cafe below … GORGEOUS!
Another amazing dining experience on the island – MEERU BAR & GRILL, which is another amazing spot for sunset and we were able to enjoy lunch at with amazing Andreas! There was one other AMAZING restaurant that we weren’t able to try …. SAMARA which is asian fusion! Which I LOVE, but as i’ve mentioned we were just too obsessed with the buffet! But going from the quality and what i’ve experience cuisine wise, i have NO DOUBT it would have been amazing!
I think what i loved about this place, is that for the first time in a crazy few months my soul jus felt at ease. Life can get sooo busy and i guess sometimes we get carried away with the minor insignificant details that in hindsight – do not matter at all ……
Being in a place like this – in the middle on no where on a small island in such an amazing habitat really taught me to reground myself, humble and be grateful for the life I live.
